Stop Being Angry!

Stop being angry!
    Turn from your rage!
Do not lose your temper—
    it only leads to harm.
For the wicked will be destroyed,
    but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. — Psalms 37:8-9

분을 그치고 노를 버리라 불평하여 말라 행악에 치우칠 뿐이라

Refrena tu enojo, abandona la ira;
    no te irrites, pues esto conduce al mal.
Porque los impíos serán exterminados,
    pero los que esperan en el Señor heredarán la tierra. — Salmos 37:8-9

Hold out Your Hand

Then Jesus went over to their synagogue,  where he noticed a man with a deformed hand. The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Does the law permit a person to work by healing on the Sabbath?” (They were hoping he would say yes, so they could bring charges against him.)

And he answered, “If you had a sheep that fell into a well on the Sabbath, wouldn’t you work to pull it out? Of course you would.  And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath.”

Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored, just like the other one!  — Matthew 12:9-13

거기를 떠나 저희 회당에 들어가시니 한편 손 마른 사람이 있는지라 사람들이 예수를 송사하려 하여 물어 가로되 안식일에 병 고치는 것이 옳으니이까

Pasando de allí, entró en la sinagoga,  donde había un hombre que tenía una mano paralizada. Como buscaban un motivo para acusar a Jesús, le preguntaron:

—¿Está permitido sanar en sábado?

Él les contestó:

—Si alguno de ustedes tiene una oveja y en sábado se le cae en un hoyo, ¿no la agarra y la saca?  ¡Cuánto más vale un hombre que una oveja! Por lo tanto, está permitido hacer el bien en sábado.

Entonces le dijo al hombre:

—Extiende la mano.

Así que la extendió y le quedó restablecida, tan sana como la otra.  — Mateo 12:9-13

Is Anything Worth More Than Your Soul?

Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.  If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.  And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?  If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” — Mark 8:34-38

무리와 제자들을 불러 이르시되 아무든지 나를 따라 오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 좇을 것이니라

 Entonces llamó a la multitud y a sus discípulos.

Springs Will Gush forth in the Wilderness

And when he comes, he will open the eyes of the blind
    and unplug the ears of the deaf.
The lame will leap like a deer,
    and those who cannot speak will sing for joy!
Springs will gush forth in the wilderness,
    and streams will water the wasteland.
The parched ground will become a pool,
    and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land.
Marsh grass and reeds and rushes will flourish
    where desert jackals once lived. — Isaiah 35:5-7

I Will Be Merciful Only If You Stop Your Evil Thoughts and Deeds

This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says:

“‘Even now, if you quit your evil ways, I will let you stay in your own land.  But don’t be fooled by those who promise you safety simply because the Lord’s Temple is here. They chant, “The Lord’s Temple is here! The Lord’s Temple is here!”  But I will be merciful only if you stop your evil thoughts and deeds and start treating each other with justice;  only if you stop exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop your murdering; and only if you stop harming yourselves by worshiping idols.  Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever. — Jeremiah 7:3-7

만군의 여호와 이스라엘의 하나님이 이같이 말씀하시되 너희 길과 행위를 바르게 하라 그리하면 내가 너희로 이곳에 거하게 하리라

They Became Prostitutes in Egypt

This message came to me from the Lord:  “Son of man, once there were two sisters who were daughters of the same mother.  They became prostitutes in Egypt. Even as young girls, they allowed men to fondle their breasts.  The older girl was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. I married them, and they bore me sons and daughters. I am speaking of Samaria and Jerusalem, for Oholah is Samaria and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

“Then Oholah lusted after other lovers instead of me, and she gave her love to the Assyrian officers.  They were all attractive young men, captains and commanders dressed in handsome blue, charioteers driving their horses.  And so she prostituted herself with the most desirable men of Assyria, worshiping their idols and defiling herself.  For when she left Egypt, she did not leave her spirit of prostitution behind. She was still as lewd as in her youth, when the Egyptians slept with her, fondled her breasts, and used her as a prostitute. — Ezekiel 23:1-8

여호와의 말씀이 또 내게 임하여 가라사대
인자야 두 여인이 있었으니 한 어미의 딸이라
그들이 애굽에서 행음하되 어렸을 때에 행음하여 그들의 유방이 눌리며 그 처녀의 가슴이 어루만진 바 되었었나니

El Señor me dirigió la palabra:  «Hijo de hombre, te cuento que había dos mujeres, hijas de una misma madre.  Desde jóvenes se dejaron manosear los senos; en Egipto se prostituyeron y dejaron que les acariciaran sus pechos virginales.  La mayor se llamaba Aholá, y la menor, Aholibá. Me uní a ellas, y me dieron hijos e hijas. (Aholá representa a Samaria, y su hermana Aholibá, a Jerusalén).  Mientras Aholá me pertenecía, me fue infiel y se enamoró perdidamente de sus amantes los asirios,  todos ellos guerreros vestidos de púrpura, gobernadores y oficiales, jóvenes apuestos y hábiles jinetes.  Como una prostituta, se entregó a lo mejor de los asirios; se contaminó con todos los ídolos que pertenecían a sus amantes.  Jamás abandonó la prostitución que había comenzado a practicar en Egipto. Desde su juventud, fueron muchos los que se acostaron con ella; fueron muchos los que acariciaron sus pechos virginales y se apasionaron con ella. — Ezequiel 23:1-8

Give Them Food and Drink and Send Them Home again to Their Master

“Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

As the Aramean army advanced toward him, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, please make them blind.” So the Lord struck them with blindness as Elisha had asked.

Then Elisha went out and told them, “You have come the wrong way! This isn’t the right city! Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are looking for.” And he led them to the city of Samaria.

As soon as they had entered Samaria, Elisha prayed, “O Lord, now open their eyes and let them see.” So the Lord opened their eyes, and they discovered that they were in the middle of Samaria.

When the king of Israel saw them, he shouted to Elisha, “My father, should I kill them? Should I kill them?”

“Of course not!” Elisha replied. “Do we kill prisoners of war? Give them food and drink and send them home again to their master.”

So the king made a great feast for them and then sent them home to their master. After that, the Aramean raiders stayed away from the land of Israel. — 2 Kings 2:16-23

대답하되 두려워하지 말라 우리와 함께한 자가 저와 함께한 자보다 많으니라 하고

—No tengas miedo —respondió Eliseo—. Los que están con nosotros son más que ellos.

Entonces Eliseo oró: «Señor, ábrele a Guiezi los ojos para que vea». El Señor así lo hizo, y el criado vio que la colina estaba llena de caballos y de carros de fuego alrededor de Eliseo. Como ya los sirios se acercaban a él, Eliseo volvió a orar: «Señor, castiga a esta gente con ceguera». Y él hizo lo que le pidió Eliseo.

Luego Eliseo les dijo: «Esta no es la ciudad adonde iban; han tomado un camino equivocado. Síganme, que yo los llevaré adonde está el hombre que buscan». Pero los llevó a Samaria. Después de entrar en la ciudad, Eliseo dijo: «Señor, ábreles los ojos, para que vean». El Señor así lo hizo, y ellos se dieron cuenta de que estaban dentro de Samaria. Cuando el rey de Israel los vio, le preguntó a Eliseo:

—¿Los mato, mi señor? ¿Los mato?

—No, no los mates —contestó Eliseo—. ¿Acaso los has capturado con tu espada y tu arco, para que los mates? Mejor sírveles comida y agua para que coman y beban, y que luego vuelvan a su rey.

Así que el rey de Israel les dio un tremendo banquete. Cuando terminaron de comer, los despidió, y ellos regresaron a su rey. Y las bandas de sirios no volvieron a invadir el territorio israelita. — 2 Reyes 6:16-23

Unless You Repent, You Will Perish, too.

About this time Jesus was informed that Pilate had murdered some people from Galilee as they were offering sacrifices at the Temple.  “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered?  Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God.  And what about the eighteen people who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them? Were they the worst sinners in Jerusalem?  No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish, too.” — Luke 13:1-5

The Sovereign Lord Is My Strength

Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
    and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
    and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
    and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
    I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
    He makes me as surefooted as a deer,

Aunque la higuera no florezca,

You Brought Us to A Place of Great Abundance

Let the whole world bless our God
    and loudly sing his praises.
Our lives are in his hands,
    and he keeps our feet from stumbling.
You have tested us, O God;
    you have purified us like silver.
You captured us in your net
    and laid the burden of slavery on our backs.
Then you put a leader over us.
    We went through fire and flood,
    but you brought us to a place of great abundance. — Psalms 66:8-12
